On a Model Y, the cover usually sits on top of an alloy wheel. Tesla calls the part a “wheel cover” or “wheel trim,” and it sits over the spokes to smooth airflow and change the look. Shoppers search for the same part as “Tesla Model Y hubcaps” or “Model Y hubcaps,” so a listing should use both words.

A center cap is a different part. It closes the center bore of the wheel over the hub, and on some Model Y wheels it also locks the cover in place. Tesla sells center caps as “wheel cap kits” with lug nut covers and a removal tool 5. If you want the general background on how caps are sized, see our wheel center caps guide.

Part

What it covers

How it stays on (Model Y)

Main fitment key

Full wheel cover (aero cover, “hubcap”)

Most of the wheel face

Perimeter clips, plus a center cap or center ring depending on the design

Wheel design and diameter

Partial cover (e.g. “mini aero” style)

Part of the spoke area

Clips into the wheel openings

Wheel design

Center cap

Center bore and hub

Snap-in retention on the wheel or cover

Wheel or cover design, cap diameter

Lug nut covers

Individual lug nuts

Push-on caps

Lug nut size (21 mm on Model Y)

Which Model Y wheel covers fit which year?

Match the cover to the factory wheel name and size, then use the year range only as a guide. Tesla’s service manuals list the factory wheels and their covers for each generation 12. A listing needs the wheel name and the diameter. Our full wheel covers for Model Y and Model 3 and the 19-inch hex-spoke covers for the Juniper Model Y are listed this way. We also supply covers for the 18″ Aperture wheel on the Model Y Standard and the 21″ Arachnid wheel on the Model Y Performance, each as its own variant.

How do you identify the wheel instead of the model year?

The model year is a weak signal on the Model Y. Tesla opened orders for the redesigned Model Y in the US, Americas and Europe in January 2025, with deliveries starting in March, and kept selling the earlier design alongside it for a while 7. So a “2025 Model Y” can have either the older Gemini/Apollo wheel or a new Crossflow wheel.

Use these checks instead, in this order:

Wheel diameter. It is printed on the tire sidewall (for example “R19” in 255/45R19).

Wheel name. The owner can see it in the vehicle configuration, the order documents or the Tesla app.

Body style. The refreshed car has a reshaped front and rear end. Compare the car with photos of both versions.

Wheel finish. On 2020–2024 19″ wheels, check whether the wheel is silver or dark, because the cover must match it 3.

Seat count and market. The six-seat Model Y L uses its own wheels and cover parts.

Asking for these five details at checkout or in a fitment form removes most of the guesswork that a year field leaves behind.

What changed with the Juniper (2025+) Model Y?

The refreshed Model Y moved to new wheel designs, so 2020–2024 covers do not carry over. Tesla’s 2025 service manual lists four main wheels: 18″ Aperture, 19″ Crossflow, 20″ Helix 2.0 and 21″ Arachnid on Performance models 2. Tesla’s accessory shop lists separate cap kits for 2020–2024 Gemini wheels and for 2025+ 19″ Crossflow wheels 5.

The 18″ size matters more than before. Tesla sells the 18″ Aperture cover for 2025+ cars with Aperture wheels 5, and the 2025 service manual ties the 18″ steel wheel to the Model Y Standard, the lowest-priced version 2. Covers for 18″ wheels therefore need their own variant, separate from the 19″ ranges. We supply the 18″ Aperture cover as that separate variant, and covers for the 21″ Arachnid wheel on Performance models.

Two practical points for Juniper listings:

Search demand is real. “Tesla model y juniper wheel covers” gets about 320 US searches a month, and “model y juniper wheel covers” another 260 (DataForSEO, October 2026).

Many shoppers search “2025 Model Y” when they own a pre-refresh car. Put “2020–2024 / Gemini 19″” and “2025+ / Crossflow 19″” in separate variants, never in one.

Do wheel size and offset matter for a cover?

Diameter matters most, because the cover’s outer ring has to sit on the wheel’s lip. Width and offset matter less for a snap-on cover, but they explain why one cover body does not fit every wheel of the same diameter: the face depth and spoke pattern differ.

Wheel

Size (owner’s manual)

Offset (owner’s manual)

Offset (2025 service manual)

18″

18 x 8.5J

35.5 mm

38 mm

19″

19 x 9.5J

45 mm

45 mm

20″

20 x 9.5J

45 mm

45 mm

21″ Performance, front

21 x 9.5J

40 mm

40 mm

21″ Performance, rear

21 x 10.5J

52 mm

48 mm

Sources: Tesla Model Y owner’s manual, Wheels and Tires 4; Tesla Model Y 2025 service manual, Wheels 2. Lug nut torque is 175 Nm (129 lb-ft) with a 21 mm socket in both.

The two Tesla documents disagree on the 18″ and 21″ rear offsets. They may describe different wheel versions, so do not print an offset on a cover listing unless the cover maker has measured the actual wheel. The six-seat Model Y L also uses wider rear wheels (19 x 10J and 20 x 10.5J in the owner’s manual) 4. For background on what these numbers mean, see what wheel offset is and how to measure a bolt pattern.

One more warning from Tesla’s 2025 service manual: the 18″ steel wheel (part 2188225-00-B) is for Model Y Standard only. Tesla says it may damage the suspension on Premium or Performance models 2. If you sell a cover with a steel winter wheel package, state that limit.

How do Model Y center caps fit?

On a 2020–2024 Model Y with 19″ Gemini covers, the center cap goes on last, through the middle of the cover. Tesla’s DIY guide has you press the cover perimeter in first and then fit the cap 6. Tesla’s service manual describes the cap as a “T”-shaped part that is installed with the bottom of the T pointing to the valve stem 3. The same manual lists separate procedures for the 19″ Gemini and the 20″ Induction center cap.

Center caps are sold by wheel design. The back side shows the retention that holds the cap in place.

Tesla’s own cap kits make the split clear. The 2020–2024 Gemini Wheel Cap Kit and the 19″ Crossflow Wheel Cap Kit each contain four wheel caps, 20 lug nut covers and one puller tool, and Tesla states that the Crossflow kit is for 2025+ vehicles with 19″ Crossflow wheels 5. So a center cap that fits a 2023 Gemini cover will not be listed for a 2025 Crossflow wheel.

For retail, center caps sell well as a replacement part because caps are easy to lose in car washes or tire shops. Search volume is smaller (“tesla model y center caps” is about 70 US searches a month), but the wider term “tesla center caps” is about 480. Two listing tips:

Sell caps by wheel design and include the cap count and lug cover count in the title.

Logo-free or custom-logo caps are a common private-label request. Do not copy vehicle-maker logos onto aftermarket caps.

Offer caps without the covers. We supply separate no-logo center cap sets, so you can list them as a replacement SKU or under your own brand.

How are Model Y wheel covers installed and removed?

The method depends on the design, which is one more reason to keep SKUs separate. Tesla’s documents describe four different retention styles:

Design

How it is held

Removal point

Source

19″ Gemini (2020–2024, North America)

Perimeter clips plus “T” center cap

Press the perimeter in, then fit the center cap

Tesla DIY guide 6

19″ Crossflow (2025+)

Center ring plus five perimeter clips

Plastic trim tool in the gap between cover and wheel

2025 service manual 6

18″ Aperture and Prismata covers

Perimeter retention

Start pulling at the valve stem opening

Tesla DIY guide 6

21″ Performance (2025+)

Separate wheel trim set

See Tesla’s Performance wheel trim procedure

2025 service manual 2

For the Crossflow cover, Tesla tells technicians to line up the valve stem with the cover opening, press the center to engage the ring, then press around the edge until every clip engages. It then asks for a pull test and a visual check for gaps. Tesla also warns that a badly installed wheel trim can cause excess road noise 6. That line is worth copying into your product instructions in your own words.

Aftermarket covers often use a different retention system from the factory part, such as a clip ring or extra tabs. Ask the supplier which one is used and include a short installation card in the box.

What are the risks and exceptions?

Wrong generation. A 2020–2024 cover ordered for a 2025+ car, or the reverse, is the easiest fitment mistake to make. Separate the variants and show a photo of the matching wheel.

Wrong finish. On 2020–2024 19″ wheels, Tesla says the dark cover goes only on the dark wheel and the silver cover only on the silver wheel 3.

Loose covers. A cover that is not fully seated can rattle, make road noise or come off. Ask for a pull test on samples.

Brake and caliper clearance. Performance models and aftermarket brake kits leave less room behind the wheel face. Do not claim Performance fitment unless the cover has been tested on that wheel. If you stock our 21″ Arachnid covers, fit a sample to the Performance wheel before you list them.

Tire changes. Covers and caps should come off before a tire change. Lost caps are common, so offer them as a separate SKU.

Trademarks. “Fits Tesla Model Y” is a fitment statement; using the Tesla logo on a cap is not. Keep logos off aftermarket parts and product images.

Range and efficiency claims. Aero covers are meant to reduce drag, but the effect depends on the car and conditions. Avoid printing a mileage gain unless you can cite a test.

What should retailers check before stocking Model Y covers?

A wheel cover range for the Model Y is a fitment business first and a styling business second. Use this checklist when you build the range or review a supplier’s samples:

Fitment matrix. Each SKU lists the wheel name, diameter, generation (2020–2024 or 2025+) and any excluded trims. Use the table above as a starting template.

Sample check on a real wheel. Fit a sample to the named factory wheel, check that every clip engages, and do a hand pull test.

Finish and color. Confirm the color names you will list, such as matte black, gloss black or silver, and check for gloss variation between lots.

Material. Most covers are injection-molded plastic such as ABS or a PC/ABS blend. Ask for the material name and whether it is UV-stabilized.

Kit contents. State the cover count (usually four), cap count, lug cover count and whether a removal tool is included.

Packaging. Covers scratch easily in transit. Ask for individual sleeves, corner protection and a label with the SKU, wheel name and size.

Labels for marketplaces. Put the wheel name in the first line of the title, for example “Model Y 19″ Crossflow (2025+) wheel covers.”

Replacement parts. Stock single covers and center caps for customers who lost one piece. We supply separate no-logo center cap sets for this.

Range gaps. Check that the 18″ Aperture (Model Y Standard) and 21″ Arachnid (Model Y Performance) wheels are in the range. Both are often missing from Model Y cover lists, and we supply covers for each.

For the wider category view, see our wheel covers and hubcaps range, the EV exterior accessories category, and the Tesla Model Y accessories page, which groups other Model Y parts by vehicle generation. If you are new to the category, hubcaps vs rims explains the basics for customers.

How we put this together

We built the fitment tables from Tesla’s Model Y service manuals for 2020–2024 and 2025+ vehicles, the Model Y owner’s manual, Tesla’s DIY guide and Tesla’s accessory listings. Where two Tesla documents gave different numbers, we show both rather than choose one. Model timing comes from news reports of the 2025 launch. Search volumes come from DataForSEO (US, October 2026). We did not test fitment on vehicles for this article, and the tables describe factory parts, not any specific aftermarket product. The supply notes for 18″ Aperture covers, 21″ Arachnid covers and no-logo center cap sets describe our own range.

Conclusion

Tesla Model Y wheel covers and center caps fit by wheel design, not by model year. The 2020–2024 car mostly uses the 19″ Gemini cover with a “T” center cap, in silver and dark versions that must match the wheel. The 2025+ refresh brought new wheels, from the 18″ Aperture on the Model Y Standard to the 19″ Crossflow and the Performance 21″ trim, each with its own parts. We supply covers for both the 18″ Aperture and the 21″ Arachnid wheels, plus separate no-logo center cap sets.

For a retailer, the work is in the listing. Name the wheel and diameter, split the generations, keep logos off, and test samples on the real wheel. That is what turns a high-volume search term into orders that stay sold.

Next step

If you are planning a range of Tesla Model Y wheel covers or center caps, send us your wheel list and target finishes. Low MOQ on selected items.

Frequently asked questions

Do 2020–2024 Model Y wheel covers fit the 2025 Juniper Model Y?

No. The refreshed Model Y uses new wheel designs such as the 19″ Crossflow and 18″ Aperture, so 2020–2024 Gemini covers do not fit them.

What wheel covers come on the Tesla Model Y?

The 2020–2024 Model Y used 19″ Gemini covers on Apollo wheels. The 2025+ Model Y uses Crossflow trims on 19″ wheels and Aperture covers on 18″ wheels.

Are Model Y hubcaps the same as wheel covers?

Yes, in everyday use. Shoppers say “hubcaps,” while Tesla calls the part a wheel cover or wheel trim. Center caps are smaller parts that cover only the hub.

Can you drive a Model Y without wheel covers?

Yes. The covers clip over complete alloy wheels, so the car can be driven without them. The wheels just look different and lose the aero shape.

Why does my Model Y wheel cover make noise?

Usually because it is not fully seated. Tesla warns that an improperly installed wheel trim can cause excess road noise, so check that every clip is engaged.

Do you supply 18″ Aperture and 21″ Arachnid wheel covers for the Model Y?

Yes. We supply covers for the 18″ Aperture wheel on the 2025+ Model Y Standard and for the 21″ Arachnid wheel on the 2025+ Model Y Performance. Each is a separate variant, so list it by wheel name and diameter.

Can I buy Model Y center caps without a logo?

Yes. We supply separate no-logo center cap sets, so retailers can sell caps as a replacement part or under their own brand without buying full covers.

Do the silver and dark Gemini covers swap between wheels?

No. Tesla’s service manual says the 19″ dark cover goes only on the dark wheel and the silver cover only on the silver wheel.

References

[1] Tesla. “Model Y Service Manual (2020–2024): Paint Codes.” Factory wheel and wheel cover names and finishes.

[2] Tesla. “Model Y Service Manual (2025+): Wheels.” Wheel sizes, offsets, lug torque and 18″ steel wheel restriction; see also the 2025 Paint Codes page and the Performance wheel trim procedure.

[3] Tesla. “Model Y Service Manual: Cap – Center – Wheel (Remove and Replace).” Gemini and Induction center cap procedures and cover finish matching.

[4] Tesla. “Model Y Owner’s Manual: Wheels and Tires.” Wheel sizes and offsets, including six-seat rear wheels.

[5] Tesla Shop. “Model Y 19″ Crossflow Wheel Cap Kit,” “2020–2024 Model Y Gemini Wheel Cap Kit” and “Model Y 18″ Aperture Wheel Cover.” Kit contents and compatibility notes.

[6] Tesla. “Model Y Service Manual (2025+): Cover – Wheel (Remove and Replace)” and “Model Y DIY Guide: Wheel covers.” Crossflow center ring, clips, pull test and road noise warning; Aperture, Prismata and Gemini (North America) cover steps.

[7] The Verge. “Tesla brings its redesigned Model Y to the US but keeps selling the old one, too.” January 2025.

{"@context": "https://schema.org", "@type": "FAQPage", "mainEntity": [{"@type": "Question", "name": "Do 2020–2024 Model Y wheel covers fit the 2025 Juniper Model Y?", "acceptedAnswer": {"@type": "Answer", "text": "No. The refreshed Model Y uses new wheel designs such as the 19" Crossflow and 18" Aperture, so 2020–2024 Gemini covers do not fit them."}}, {"@type": "Question", "name": "What wheel covers come on the Tesla Model Y?", "acceptedAnswer": {"@type": "Answer", "text": "The 2020–2024 Model Y used 19" Gemini covers on Apollo wheels.
