Buying Guide

How to Choose a Rear Spoiler

A rear spoiler changes how a car looks from behind more than almost any other exterior part. For a wholesale buyer, the right choice comes down to three things: the style your customers want, the material and finish, and how the spoiler mounts.

1. Pick the Style

Trunk spoiler: a low blade on the trailing edge of the trunk lid. It is the most popular choice for daily-driven sedans.

Roof spoiler: mounted at the top of the rear hatch on SUVs, hatchbacks and pickups to extend the roofline.

Rear wing and GT wing: a rear wing spoiler stands on risers above the trunk lid; a GT wing is the larger, track-inspired version. Model-specific wings, such as a Type R style Honda Civic spoiler, are popular with enthusiast buyers.

Ducktail spoiler: a short, upswept trunk spoiler with a retro look. A ducktail design can be developed as an OEM/ODM project.

2. Choose the Material and Finish

Most spoilers in this range are made from ABS or PP plastic. Both are durable, affordable and take paint well.

A carbon fiber spoiler costs more, but it saves weight and gives a premium look that many enthusiasts prefer.

Common finishes are gloss black, matte black, carbon pattern and unpainted for color matching. Carbon pattern is a printed finish on plastic, not real carbon fiber.

3. Check Fitment and Mounting

Model-specific spoilers follow one vehicle’s body lines for a flush fit. A universal spoiler is sold by length and fits many sedans, hatchbacks and SUVs, so measure the trunk or hatch first.

Adhesive spoilers attach with automotive double-sided tape and need no drilling. Bolt-on spoilers and wings use screws or studs through the trunk lid and are the more secure choice for large wings.

Installation

How to Install a Rear Spoiler

A general overview for adhesive and bolt-on spoilers. Always follow the instructions supplied with the product.

  1. Test fit first. Place the spoiler on the car and mark its position with masking tape before you remove any backing.
  2. Clean the surface. Wash the area, then wipe it with isopropyl alcohol so the tape or seals bond well.
  3. Adhesive spoilers. Peel the tape a little at a time, press the spoiler into place and hold firm pressure along its length.
  4. Bolt-on wings. Drill only at the marked points, seal the holes against water and tighten the bolts evenly.
  5. Let it cure. Avoid car washes and high speeds for about 24 hours while the adhesive sets.

FAQ

Rear Spoiler FAQ

What is the difference between a spoiler and a wing?

A spoiler sits flat on the body, usually on the trunk or roof, and mainly changes the look and airflow at the rear edge. A wing stands on risers above the trunk lid, like a GT wing, and is the more aggressive style.

Do spoilers do anything on a daily driver?

On most road cars a spoiler is mainly a styling upgrade. At normal speeds the effect on handling is small, so buyers choose a style for the look they want.

Will a universal spoiler fit my car?

A universal spoiler fits most sedans, hatchbacks or SUVs within the listed length. Check the width of your trunk or hatch against the product size before ordering.

Do you supply model-specific spoilers, such as a Honda Civic spoiler?

Yes. Alongside universal styles, the range includes model-specific spoilers and wings, for example a Type R style Honda Civic spoiler for the 2021 Civic Hatchback, plus parts for Mercedes-Benz, Ford and BYD models.

Should I choose an adhesive or bolt-on spoiler?

Adhesive spoilers need no drilling and suit most retail customers. Bolt-on mounting is more secure and is the better choice for large wings.

ABS, PP or carbon fiber: which material is best?

ABS and PP are affordable, durable and easy to paint. A carbon fiber spoiler costs more but is lighter and has a premium look. Carbon pattern is a printed finish on ABS, not real carbon fiber.

Do you offer a ducktail spoiler?

Our current range covers trunk, roof and wing styles. A ducktail spoiler for a specific model can be developed as an OEM/ODM project.

Can you make custom or private-label spoilers?

Yes. We support OEM and ODM projects, custom finishes and private-label packaging. Send us drawings or a sample to start.

What is the minimum order quantity?

We offer low MOQ on selected items. Tell us the models and quantities you need and we will confirm the MOQ and lead time.

Which countries do you ship to?

We ship to buyers in 40+ countries with export-ready packing. Shipping options are confirmed with each quote.
