Black stick-on weights made for dark wheels
These are adhesive balance weights for the inner barrel of black and dark alloy rims on passenger cars and light trucks. A shiny zinc weight is easy to see through the spokes of a black wheel, and customers who paid for dark wheels notice. Each strip is lead-free steel with twelve rectangular 5g segments, 60g in total, zinc plated and then coated black so it looks right and is protected underneath.
Tyre shops use them to hand back premium wheels with a cleaner finish, and distributors stock them as the dark-wheel partner to their grey and zinc ranges.
Why use black wheel weights at all?
Correct balancing is expected; an invisible weight is the detail customers remember. Technicians balance exactly as before, but the result looks noticeably more professional on dark rims.
- Near-invisible on gloss black, matte black and dark gunmetal rims
- Zinc plating under the black coat helps protect the steel from corrosion
- Segments snap or cut apart to the required weight
For silver or grey rims, the grey coated 5g x 12 weights are the closer colour match. For black in other sizes, see the black 1oz easy-peel weights.
Picking a tape for black weights
All five tapes are available. Most buyers choose by whether customers ask for a branded adhesive or whether they want to colour-code stock.
| Tape type | Typical use |
|---|---|
| Blue tape | Everyday workshop tape for general balancing |
| 3M tape | Named branded adhesive for customers who specify 3M |
| Norton tape | Named branded adhesive alternative |
| Red tape | Colour-coded liner to separate black stock from other finishes |
| White tape | Clean-looking liner for private label or retail packs |
If black weights always come on red tape, for example, nobody in a busy stockroom grabs the wrong finish.

Black, grey or zinc: how to decide
Use black for dark rims, grey for silver and grey alloys, and zinc plated where appearance is not a priority; many shops keep black and grey side by side. If your team prefers a 2mm tape margin that is easier to peel with gloves on, see the wide-edge tape grey 5g x 12 weights.
For fine corrections, 2.5g x 12 strips give smaller increments; for heavier wheels, 10g strips save stacking segments. A zinc alloy 5g x 12 option is also available.
How the strips are packed
Strips come 25 to a bag and 4 bags to a box, giving 100 strips per box. Boxes are packed into export cartons for sea or air; tell us your destination port and we will advise on carton numbers and freight.
Can you supply them under our brand?
Yes. We support minor, drawing-based and sample-based customization, including logo printing on boxes, custom tape types or colours, and other coating colours. Send your artwork and we will agree the details and lead time with you.

What buyers ask about black wheel weights
Do black coated weights contain lead?
No. They are steel (Fe), zinc plated and then black coated.
Can black and grey weights go in the same shipment?
Yes. List the quantity you need for each finish in one inquiry.
How do I get a secure fit on dark rims?
Black wheels often carry heavy brake dust, so clean and dry the spot thoroughly, fit at room temperature and press firmly along the full strip.
Will these work on steel wheels?
Adhesive weights are mainly used on alloy rims. Steel rims usually take clip-on weights, which are generally the better option there.
