What is a wide-edge tape wheel weight?
It is a stick-on balance weight whose adhesive tape extends roughly 2mm beyond the steel on each edge. This version uses lead-free steel in the familiar 5g x 12 layout, twelve 5g segments making a 60g strip, zinc plated and grey coated for silver and grey alloy rims on passenger cars and light trucks. The weight is the same as our standard grey strip; only the tape is different.
The brim gives technicians an edge to lift the liner, adds bonding area around the weight and leaves a neat line on the rim. It suits busy balancing bays and distributors who want an easy-peel, premium-feeling weight without changing format.
Why are fitters switching to a 2mm tape brim?
On a standard strip the tape is trimmed flush with the steel, so with gloves on the liner edge can be fiddly to find. On a bay fitting dozens of weights a shift, the brim saves time on every one.

Which wide-edge tape suits your customers?
Three tapes are available in the wide-brim format; the choice mostly depends on whether your customers specify a named brand.

Wide-edge or standard tape: which should you stock?
Wide-edge tape pays off when technicians fit many weights per shift, work in gloves, or your customers already expect an easy-peel product. If you need red or white tape, or a darker finish for black wheels, the standard tape grey weights or the black coated weights are a better fit.
For heavier corrections, the grey 5g+10g x 4 wide-brim weights use the same easy-peel idea, and there are also blue tape wide-brim steel weights. If appearance matters less to your buyers, the zinc plated 5g x 12 blue tape weights are a sensible alternative.
Packing and delivery
Each bag holds 25 strips and each box holds 4 bags, so one box contains 100 strips, the same count as our standard strip, which makes it easy to slot into existing stock levels. Boxes ship in export cartons by sea or air; include your destination port and we will advise on cartons and freight.
Private label and custom options
The factory supports minor, drawing-based and sample-based customization, including logo printing on boxes, a different tape type or colour, and other coating colours. Send your artwork and we will agree the details and lead time with you.

Does it weigh the same as the standard 5g x 12 strip?
Yes. It is still twelve 5g segments, 60g per strip. Only the tape format differs, so technicians work the same way.
How should it be fitted?
Clean and dry the marked spot on the inner barrel at room temperature, lift the liner by the wide edge, then press firmly over both the steel and the tape margin.
Is there any lead in these weights?
No. The segments are steel (Fe) with zinc plating and a grey coating.
Can you pack them under our own brand?
Yes, private label boxes and logo printing are available on request.
