Thin 4 mm 5g x 10 weights: who are they for?
This lead-free steel (Fe) stick-on weight is built for the inner barrel of passenger car and light truck alloy rims where large brake calipers run close to the rim. At about 4 mm thick, each segment sits lower than a standard strip, reducing the risk of caliper contact. Each 50g strip carries ten 5g segments with rounded corners, so technicians snap off exactly what the balancer asks for.
It is popular for performance and sport wheel fitment, but tyre shops, mobile fitters, fleet workshops and distributors stock it too, since a weight that touches the caliper is a comeback waiting to happen.
Why does a low-profile strip matter?
- Caliper clearance: the low profile reduces the risk of contact with large brake calipers.
- Fine 5g steps across a 50g strip.
- Rounded corners give a neat edge and are less likely to catch when the wheel is cleaned.
- High-count box: 120 strips per box means fewer re-orders for busy bays.
For a standard-thickness 60g strip, see the rounded corner 5g x 12 weights. For larger corrections, compare the thick 10g x 10 strip.
Zinc, grey or black: the three versions
All three share the same zinc plated strip and packing; only the finish differs.
| Version | Finish | Best match |
|---|---|---|
| 009Z | Zinc plated | General use, bare metallic look |
| 009C | Zinc plated + grey coating | Silver, grey and gunmetal alloys |
| 009B | Zinc plated + black coating | Black and dark painted rims |
Choosing a tape for thin strips
This strip has one of the widest tape selections in our range:
| Tape | Typical use |
|---|---|
| General blue tape | Standard adhesive for everyday workshop balancing |
| Premium blue tape | Higher-grade blue adhesive for buyers who want a stronger everyday tape |
| Wide-edge blue tape | Liner extends past the strip so it can be peeled quickly, even with gloves |
| 3M tape | Branded 3M adhesive for customers who specify a named tape |
| Norton tape | Branded Norton adhesive as an alternative named tape |
| Red / white tape | Colour-coded liners for separating ranges or private label packs |
Tell our sales team your climate and rim types, and we will recommend one.

Thin strip or standard strip?
Choose the 4 mm strip when caliper clearance is tight or customers want a particularly low-profile look. Where clearance is not an issue, standard strips such as the grey 5g x 12 or the 5g+10g x 4 carry more weight per strip. For 2.5g steps, see the 2.5g x 12 strip; steel rims are normally balanced with clip-on weights.
Packing and shipping details
Strips are packed 20 per bag and 6 bags per box, giving 120 strips per box, or about 6 kg of weight segments. Boxes go into export cartons for sea or air freight, and mixed-finish orders can be packed by box, so one shipment can cover zinc, grey and black.
Can we brand the packaging?
Yes. The factory supports minor, drawing-based and sample-based customization, including logo printing on boxes, private label packing, custom tape types and alternative coating colours. Send your artwork and we will agree the details and lead time with you.

Common questions about 4 mm thin weights
Is there any lead in them?
No. They are steel (Fe), zinc plated, with an optional grey or black coating.
Which tape would you recommend?
General or premium blue for everyday use, wide-edge blue for faster peeling, and 3M or Norton when your customer specifies a named tape.
Why is placement so important with this strip?
It is often used where clearance is tight, so follow the balancer’s position exactly, clean and dry the spot, fit at room temperature and press firmly along the whole strip.
Can you print our logo on the box?
Yes, logo printing and private label packing are available on request.
