Buying Guide
A roll up tonneau cover is the entry point for most truck owners: it is the lowest-cost bed cover, it opens the entire bed, and it can be fitted in about half an hour. What separates a good one from a poor one is the vinyl, the tensioning and the rail design.
Look for heavy-gauge PVC vinyl with a UV-resistant top coat and a fabric backing, so it does not crack in cold weather or fade in the sun.
Cross bows under the vinyl stop water from pooling. Aluminum bows and rails resist corrosion better than steel.
Tension adjusters at the tailgate end let the owner tighten the vinyl as it relaxes in heat and shrinks in cold. A drum-tight cover sheds water and does not flap at highway speed.
Hook-and-loop sealing strips along the rails, or snap-free latch systems, decide how quick the cover is to open.
Most soft roll-up covers clamp to the bed rails with no drilling. Check clearance with rail caps, bed liners and toolbox lids.
Some designs leave the stake pockets free, which matters if the owner also uses a bed rack.

The vinyl is stretched over a frame clamped to the bed rails. To open it, release the rear latch and roll the vinyl toward the cab, then secure it with the straps.
Yes. It weighs little, opens quickly and gives full bed access, which suits daily drivers and frequent loading.
The vinyl has relaxed, usually in heat. Tighten the tension adjusters at the tailgate end.
Many roll-up covers leave the stake pockets free for racks. Check the rail design of the specific cover.
